Since 2015, Victa and i3D.net are working together to deliver virtual machines to Qlik customers and offer a complete BI solution with additional managed cloud services. Together with Vince Wolbers (Technical Consultant) and Lars Borgerink (Technical IT Consultant) we reflected on our cooperation in the past 5 years.
Before Victa and i3D.net joined hands Victa was working with a local hosting company that supplied them with dedicated servers. Vince Wolbers explains: After investigating how we could improve our infrastructure to both serve our clients better and to consider the financial aspects, we found that i3D.net was number one from our considered providers, not only regarding pricing but also looking at the maturity of the technical environment. When we started back in 2015, even when we ordered in the morning, our customer could go live in the afternoon. That was a major improvement.
IT infrastructure is one of the most important aspects of our business. Not just for us, but especially for our customers, as without the infrastructure, nothing works. Consistent availability and security for the IT infrastructure are critical. That means that availability is key for us. We can’t sell a service to our customers if we are offline for let’s say 10% of the time.
More and more people are not just using business intelligence for short periods. Most of our customers always need their BI environment to be online. It simply cannot be down, no matter what. The combination of high availability with consistent speed makes the IT infrastructure something Victa can rely on.
When talking with Lars about why Business Intelligence is so important he explains: ”Excel sheets with raw data don’t say anything to management across the board. Especially when data is scattered across more applications, it makes it difficult to gather all the data in one place to analyze. Therefore, the BI applications that we serve, present data from various data sources in one place, already analyzed and visualized, making it easy for a manager to report.”
As availability is one of the crucial aspects of our IT infrastructure, Lars explains, we closely monitor the performance of our services so that we can promptly act on any issues and malfunctions. But as a BI organization, we are specialized in the BI products we sell, not necessarily in the hosting infrastructure on which it runs. That is what makes the collaboration with i3D.net very satisfying as we can cooperate quickly and directly with the right people. This enables us to rapidly communicate with our customers should there be an issue with their environment.
The direct and fast communication with i3D.net’s experts is very beneficial as we don’t have to move through a firewall of support employees to be able to talk to the people we need to talk to. Whenever we call or message, we are immediately talking to experts that know our environment and know what to do.
